Our history

The Otorhinolaryngological Society of Nigeria was formed by ear, nose and throat surgeons committed to developing the specialty in Nigeria — establishing training, raising standards of care, and creating a forum for scientific exchange.

From its early meetings the Society has grown into a national body with state and diaspora chapters, an elected executive, a Board of Trustees, standing committees, and Fellows drawn from across the country. Its Annual General Meeting & Scientific Conference has been held for over three decades, and its peer-reviewed journal — the Nigerian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology (NJORL) — carries research relevant to Nigerian and African practice.
